Current Dam Project in Korea
Hydrothermal Energy Cluster in Gangwon-do
It is a project to create a cluster, such as data center integration complexes and smart farms, by utilizing the hydrothermal energy of the deep water of the Soyanggang Dam in the area of Chuncheon City, Gangwon-do. Chuncheon City and K-water plan to invest 317.9 billion won in the 815,964㎡ site to create a regional growth base by fostering the water energy industry through the Green New Deal.
Floating Solar Power Generation System
Construction of 1.1 GW power generation facilities by 2030 in Korea. SOLATUS is a tracker-type floating solar photovoltaic system to maximizes energy production by changing the inclination & azimuthal angle of its solar photovoltaic array according to the route of the moving sun, functioning to combine a sun-tracking technique and a floating structure along with mooring device on the water surface above the dam and reservoir.
Pumped Storage Power Plant
Utilizes surplus power to store water in a high place and then generate electricity.7 Plants are in operation, and 5 plants are under construction in Korea.
Raising a bank of the reservoir & Farmland Remodeling
It aims to improve the capability to contain water in reservoirs by raising its bank where is at risk for flood and deterioration damage, or water shortage. As farmland remodeling, low agricultural areas are embanked using dredging sand from rivers to prevent the farmlands from flooding and develop farming environments.
